That Andersen! What indeed are we to think of that Andersen? To me, the great poet is a life’s companion. His works are like a place where you can breathe freely, something I continue to return to. Wisdom and spiritual nourishment for your life are to be found in his words; his words are eternally new and eternally age-old, always illuminating our lives and souls. It is an instructive experience to take Hans Christian Andersen by the hand and walk into life side by side with him, that odd an worldly-wise man. It seems impossible, and indeed it is. But the fact that it is impossible fascinates and attracts us. And you may call yourself lucky, if you retain this gift of being fascinated by and drawn towards things impossible. Receiving an award for working with Hans Christian Andersen perhaps indicates that actually you may be close to achieving the impossible.
