Dear Hans Christian Andersen

It is quite inconceivable that you passed away 135 years ago. But being the great artist that you are, you will live forever through your work, which is beloved all over the world.

For me personally, your work has been a great influence in my life, both when I was a child and as an adult. When I was presented with the Hans Christian Andersen Award, I realized that this was an invaluable chance to become part of a global community, unified by the wish to further promote your life’s work.

For more than 150 years, both well-known and young Russian artists have illustrated your timeless works, among them myself, who has recently illustrated an edition of your works on the occasion of your anniversary.
